Overview: AtlantiCare, a prominent New Jersey healthcare organization, wanted to expand its technology capabilities without expanding its data center, which was running out of electrical capacity and space. AtlantiCare's IT Company, InfoShare, also needed more test servers and a cost-efficient way to replace aging hardware running Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0-based applications. The solution: create virtual machines using Microsoft Virtual Server 2005. AtlantiCare is running 33 virtual servers on 2 physical servers, saving money on hardware, power, and data center space.
