Overview: General Motors and DaimlerChrysler have announced their mutual signing of a memorandum of understanding regarding the sharing of their hybrid technologies. It is an interesting decision for both companies. General Motors has long been touting its devotion to fuel cell development, and DaimlerChrysler has tried to convince the public that diesel-power is a viable alternative. This article investigates whether the motivation for DaimlerChrysler to enter into such an agreement is to hedge its bet that diesel will appeal to the North American buying public.
