Overview: The strength of the housing market and the rapid rise in house prices have led many to conclude that housing is a bubble now ready to burst. But the housing market is lifted by numerous factors that suggest that the cycle could last longer than many think. Despite record mortgage borrowing, household debt service has remained stable thanks to very low interest rates. There is little evidence of household financial stress presaging an end to the housing cycle.
