Overview: This paper reports a research study that was conducted to examine perceptions of relevance in the information supply between brokerage and securities house analysts and their customers in UK-based fund management companies. Perceptions of information relevance were researched on both the buy-side and the sell-side of the institutional investment process. The study revealed a striking gap between the sell-side and the buy-side, with the conclusion that sell-side firms have a major commercial opportunity to improve the individual relevance of communications with fund managers.
