Overview: This paper presents findings from an investigation to discern the similarities and differences between Canadian and Russian human resource management practices. A literature review was conducted to determine the "state of the art" of human resource management (HRM) in Russia and Canada. This was followed by a survey to determine how Canadian and Russian managers would react to human resource management situations requiring problem solving and decision-making. Beliefs and values of Russian and Canadian managers were also investigated to explore how these beliefs and values influenced HR decisions.
