Overview: Business ethics is an applied ethical field. To provide context for how one approaches business ethics, and the practical concerns raised therein, it is important to consider the long-standing debate over the role and nature, indeed the very definition, of the business organization ("the firm," or "the corporation"). In other words, before one considers the question of Individual Ethical Decision making (IED), one must know the larger context in conceptualizing the firm as business organization.
