Overview: Organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB's) are defined as work-related behaviors that are discretionary, not related to the formal organizational reward system, and, in the aggregate, promotes the effective functioning of the organization. In the past ten to fifteen years these types of behaviors have been gaining a lot of attention. The behaviors include helping employees with their work when they have been absent, helping orient new employees into their department, assisting the supervisor with their duties, as well as coming to work early or staying late.
