Overview: This paper asserts that family businesses that obtain relatively positive business and family outcomes use collaborative and compromising conflict management strategies, those that obtain positive family outcomes use accommodative strategies, and those that obtain relatively negative business and family outcomes use competitive and avoiding strategies. It presents the analyses of a survey of 65 family businesses. Results indicate that businesses with positive business and family outcomes use high levels of collaboration, and businesses with positive family outcomes use high levels of accommodation.
