Overview: A logistics or plant manager is constantly under pressure to reduce costs and improve customer satisfaction. By reducing picking times and maximizing space utilization through the use of a slotting application, pick per item costs are reduced, customer satisfaction is increased, orders are fulfilled faster and there are fewer stock outs. This article explains why slotting is one of the best ways to improve an established warehouse operation. The implementation of a slotting application and improving the slotting process can increase cost savings related to labor (order selection and replenishment) by 5-8 percent.
