Overview: The current selection of music production applications involves a great software design challenge. In order to develop new products, software developers have to tackle complex systems. The suggested framework solves the complexity of such systems by constructing a combined graph and hierarchical structure. The framework defines three basic abstractions: Component is the super class that encapsulates system elements that can process data (mainly audio and midi), Composite implements the hierarchical aspects of a system and its elements, and Connector is the class that grants connectivity between the various elements; hence, it is the class that implements the graph structure.
