Overview: The past several years have seen a tremendous growth in the number of companies adopting business improvement programs, such as Six Sigma, lean manufacturing and the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence (BCPE), and various customized total quality management (TQM) programs. This article states that linking ISO 9001 and certain business improvement programs can help businesses overcome consistency and sustainability problems. Each possible scenario will look different and may impact certain ISO 9001 elements. The article also presents a seven step roadmap to follow to achieve integration.
