Overview: New information technology (IT), especially the internet, has revolutionized the finance industry with the rapid growth of electronic finance. E-finance activities include all types of financial activities carried out over the internet or other public networks, such as online banking, electronic trading, and the provision and delivery of various financial products and services, electronic money, electronic payment and communication of financial information. This paper suggests a new perspective on financial intermediation and markets. It discusses why and how this new framework of analysis may shed light on the understanding of finance in the age of the internet and IT revolution.
