Overview: This article focuses on the fuel cell technology for cars. In order to begin to form an idea of when and how fuel cells might emerge into the automotive market, this article presents a brief review of the technology and the issues associated with the development of reliable fuel cell technology. A fuel cell is an electrochemical device, not unlike a battery, in which the energy source (the fuel) flows into the device in a continuous stream and is chemically changed to produce an electrical current that derives directly from the conversion process itself.
