Overview: Beams are fabricated in accordance with ANSI A190.1 using the grade combinations noted in this paper. Manufacturing details are provided by Engineered Wood Systems and are included in the plant production procedures manual. Combinations are in accordance with ASTM D 3737 requirements. Resawn purlin beams, manufactured by ripping nominal 6 inch (152 mm) beams vertically through their depth into two equal width members, are permitted to be produced from Canadian spruce-pine (CSP) and Spruce-pine-fir (SPF) combinations in this width without varying basic grade description or lay-up procedures.
