Overview: An architecturally-impressive facility greets tourists from all corners of the U.S. and abroad as they enter Wisconsin near the Illinois border. The 10,000-square-foot center has a rustic, natural appearance through the use of glulams, exposed roof decking and native stone. A grand glass entrance with wood accents rises 27 feet and sets the stage for an open beam ceiling inside. Six exposed glulam scissor trusses are featured in the main foyer area. Heavy timber glued laminated decking spans the trusses with nail board insulation installed over the decking to create an energy-efficient structural system.
