Overview: This paper constructs a structural model of title-specific saturation in demand that controls for a shrinking consumer base. The estimates of the partial reduced form of this model show that saturation is a significant phenomenon in theatrical exhibition of the domestic motion picture industry, while the estimates of the structural model are suggestive of saturation's importance but not conclusive. The paper concludes by contrasting the estimates from the no-saturation and the saturation models.
