Overview: On September 11, 2001, America came face to face with risks never contemplated before, and we witnessed the dawn of a new age. Almost immediately, U.S. industry - the insurance industry in particular - began to transform the way we do business. The property and casualty side of the insurance industry bore the greater burden. The lives lost on September 11, while catastrophic, were not enough to change mortality experience. This article however notes that new factors involving geography, occupation and travel frequency may become part of our risk assessment. From an enterprise perspective, the safety and security of the work environment will be of utmost concern in everyone's mind.
