Overview: The behavior and strength of a timber-composite diaphragm and sheathing-to-framing connections within timber-composite diaphragms is determined under quasi-static loading regimes, as part of a research project investigating the potential of timber - composite diaphragms for use in building structures. Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) sheathing panels, timber framing, and four different common nail sizes are considered. The results indicate that sheathing-to-framing connections in timber-composite diaphragms sustain 53% more load, have low degradation in strength, and change the mode of failure when compared to traditional connections in timber diaphragms.
