Overview: This paper presents the 2000 period infant mortality statistics from the linked birth/infant death data set (linked file) by a variety of maternal and infant characteristics. This paper presents infant mortality data from the 2000 period linked file. In the linked file, the information from the death certificate is linked to information from the birth certificate for each infant less than 1 year of age who died in the 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, or Guam during 2000. Linked birth/infant death data are not available for American Samoa and the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas.
