Overview: This study examines the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and financial performance for hospitality firms belonging to the Fortune 500. It finds that the firms that engage in CSR tend to be highly profitable in prior periods. In subsequent period, these firms are more profitable than other comparable firms, holding all other factors constant. The paper finds very weak evidence to support that notion that this increased profitability is due to "premium" pricing of the products.
