Overview: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) is releasing selected estimates of health insurance coverage for the civilian non-institutionalized U.S. population based on data from the 2003 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), along with comparable estimates from the 1997-2002 NHIS. The 2003 health insurance estimates are being released prior to final data editing and final weighting to provide access to the most recent information from the NHIS.
