Overview: The University of Florida in Gainesville, FL installed a 42 MW power plant in 1992 as part of Gator Power Cogeneration. The installation included a standard Coen low CO duct burner that performed well and met all emission limits over its operating range. Coen recommended retrofitting the existing burner elements with their new low CO PowerPlus duct burner elements, and also suggested expansion end supports, flow baffles and new burner logic for staged firing. Coen's PowerPlus cut the existing CO emissions in half.
