Overview: By the start of 2003, the increasing need for companies to collaborate with international entities in order to compete globally has presented great opportunities for international investors as well as for entrepreneurs around the world. At the same time, venture firms need to address many short-term challenges such as providing enough capital and value-added management expertise for young companies to grow into successful businesses. This article argues that the venture capital industry is an increasingly global business, with the best investment opportunities available to those firms that can provide the expertise and network to enable companies to go international.
