Overview: Computers without standard enclosure ratings accounted for almost half of worldwide shipments in 2000. Those with military specifications accounted for one third. The shipment growth rate for the computers without enclosure ratings is expected to be the highest through 2005. The higher growth rate for computers without enclosure ratings is expected to result from stronger demand in applications that do not require ratings. In particular, high growth in the global telecom/datacom industry segment is expected to contribute to this as these users adopt more computer based open platforms.
