Overview: In 2000, North American consumption of industrial electronic monitors and operator interface terminals used in discrete and process manufacturing applications totaled almost $650 million. Imports accounted for about 24% of North American consumption. The highest shares of imports to North America were for web browser terminals, graphic monitors, and graphic and alphanumeric operator interface terminals. Overall, North American consumption of monitors and operator interface terminals in these applications is expected to reach about $1,010 million in 2005.
