Overview: This paper deals with the gestural language of music performance and the creation of new interfaces for the real-time capture of musical intention. It discusses different models of control systems that can express complex musical configurations in a natural way. Specific interfaces and applications that have been developed at Center For Research In Electronic Art Technology (CREATE) are presented and their potential explored in this paper.
