Overview: This paper aimed to provide a model for the development of a community owned, grid connected renewable energy business, which can be applied to other RE initiatives. These aims were met in part, but due to the short timescale, were found to be very ambitious. A number of salient lessons were learnt, in terms of community control, gaining relevant permissions, the possible legal and financing structures for a community RE project and also in terms of selling the electricity.
