Overview: This paper elaborates on the requirement of power in Spain and solving the problems for producing power. The single RB211 engine installed operates continuously, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The refinery itself demands a maximum load of 16 MW, which means that the excess can be exported to the national grid system, earning valuable income. The exhaust from the RB211 is put through a heat recovery boiler that in turn supplies the 52 tonnes of steam per hour required for the refinery's production needs. The gas turbine is also fitted with an evaporative cooler which, when activated allows more power to be created.
