Overview: Metrication in the reinforcing steel industry was becoming a reality in 2000. Several mills had started to make soft metric reinforcing bars. The purpose of this report is to present guidelines using soft metric bars in non-metric construction projects in the private sector. Non-metric projects, which were designed initially in inch-pound materials, represented the major challenge to the acceptance of soft metric reinforcing bars.
