Overview: There is increasing interest worldwide in the development of innovative fuel processing technologies for fuel cell systems, and a growing interest in the use of compact chemical reactors for a variety of applications. The recent surge in development of fuel cells systems, especially for small-scale power generation applications has spurred development of a variety of fuel processing options. The potential high power density of the Compact reformer concept could lead to major applications in fuel cell systems for stationary and transport use. This paper set out to address these uncertainties and provide a sound basis for managing the risk of further development of this technology.
