Overview: Many terms are used to describe the performance of wind turbines. This paper explains the important ones. The amount of power that a wind turbine generates depends on the wind speed at the time. The one technical context in which efficiency is applied to wind turbines is in the aerodynamic efficiency of the blades or rotor. This is a measure of the amount of energy extracted from the wind by the blades.
