Overview: The Energy Conservation and Solar Centre develop programmes to create socially responsible sustainable energy futures through energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy. So many renewable energy projects (the majority) now fail to achieve planning permission that the expectations of how much electricity the technology can supply have been steadily downgraded. Solar Thermal, the provision of hot water heated by the sun, is the Cinderella of renewable energy systems. Overlooked or dismissed by government, unsubsidized, and often confused in the public's mind with photo-voltaic, the market has remained small and undeveloped.
