Overview: This paper states that ENs (Extendable Notes) and CNs (Callable Notes) are here to stay. The number of EN/CN programs and the overall outstanding ENs and CNs are increasing exponentially in the US market. To date, most EN/CN programs have originated from the US market and the non-US markets have been slow to catch on to these structures. The monetary benefits of reduced third-party liquidity are apparent to both sponsors and investors, and it is safe to say that strong growth in this area will continue throughout 2004.
