Overview: Results from applying regression analysis to U.S. bankruptcy data for 1990 and 1999 indicate that counties that legalized casinos during the period suffered individual bankruptcy rates more than 100 percent higher than casinos that remained "casinoless." On the other hand, the casino counties experienced business bankruptcy rates that were 35.4 percent less than their matching counties without casinos.
