Overview: Beat frequencies are defined as the sum and the difference of two different frequencies from nonlinear property in a system for example from frequency modulation. The frequency modulation exists in systems with switch-mode power supplies from certain configurations. This study is to discover the existence conditions that switch-mode power supplies cause the beat frequencies, to address the problems resulted from the beat frequencies, and to provide the remedies of reduction and elimination of the beat frequencies. Switch-mode converters include variety of configurations from ac and dc. This paper will focus on non-isolated dc-dc buck converters.
