Overview: The Basel committee on banking supervision of the bank of international settlements is a committee comprised of banking supervisory authorities in G10. The committee has released a proposal for a new capital adequacy framework that would replace the prior accord which was issued in 1988. When finalized & adopted the new accord will govern all the business undertaken by financial holding companies.
