Overview: The surface of concrete can be manipulated at any stage as concrete passes from its plastic to hardened states. The variations in color and finishes are unlimited. Detailed information about the various techniques that produce particular finishes is outside the scope of these notes. Color consistency is usually important in architectural concrete. Cement is produced in grey, off-white and white, and will have a direct affect on the color of the surface finish. Fine and coarse aggregates will influence the perception of color in exposed-aggregate finishes.
