Overview: ESPN has undertaken one of the most ambitious broadcast technology and workflow restructuring projects in television history: the conversion of ESPN's production facilities, media creation and presentation workflows, and its irreplaceable content archive, from analog to digital. Like most media asset management applications, it is driven by three primary business factors: to better exploit available assets with less human labor, to reduce time to air while increasing the technical, aesthetic and editorial quality of the content, and to preserve and better exploit archived assets.
