Overview: Built as a catalyst for urban regeneration in the heart of Birmingham city centre, the 37,000 mts.sq Millennium Point is the largest Millennium Project outside London. The structural frame was designed not only to be adaptable, but also to be both durable and fast to build. The composite structural steel and reinforced concrete hybrid frame, together with the pre-cast concrete floors, ensured a very high quality building, while enabling fast construction. Logistically, the design approach allowed the construction of the frame to advance well ahead of the following trades, minimizing the disruption on and adjacent to, the congested and busy building site.
