Overview: Erdman Anthony is providing preliminary and final design services for the reconstruction and capacity improvements along 3.5-miles of I-490, including twenty bridges in this section from the Erie Canal to the Genesee River. The final design portion is divided into five phases, the first of which calls for the rehabilitation of three bridges and one pedestrian bridge crossing the expressway. Erdman Anthony's design for these structures included deck replacement, increased vertical clearance, and aesthetic improvements such as artwork and decorative lighting.
