Overview: Erdman Anthony designed the replacement for the Lyndon Road Bridge and implemented associated roadway improvements. The existing structure was a one-lane, five span bridge with a 180-foot through truss over the Erie Canal and two pony trusses over the CSX railroad. One of few canal crossings in the area, the bridge was constructed in 1911 but closed to all traffic in 1992 because of significant deterioration, causing major traffic disruptions to local residents. Erdman Anthony's skilled design and attention to detail re-established the Lyndon Road Bridge as a functional landmark in an active community while retaining the structure's unique historical setting.
