Overview: Erdman Anthony provided comprehensive design services for the replacement of the Buffalo Road Bridge over Oatka Creek. There were several issues with the existing bridge including failing foundations, debris being caught on the superstructure during frequent flooding, and floodwaters overtopping the approach road. To alleviate these flooding issues, Erdman Anthony developed a cost-effective design that overcame the foundation problems, in addition to widening the structure to comply with current design standards. Erdman designed the superstructure for the replacement bridge consisting of adjacent pre-stressed concrete box beams with a composite concrete deck, a width of 39 feet, and a span length of 82 feet.
