Overview: For monitoring voltage flicker at large industrial customers' facilities, the client currently employs the gauge-point assessment method based on the British ERA meter. Kinectrics' main objective for this project was to compare the two methods of flicker measurement and assess the impacts and implications for this client of adopting the IEC standard for flicker measurement. The assignment involved a comprehensive, critical review of flicker limits imposed by the two standards, evaluation of the flicker measurement techniques specified, and field measurements and comparison of the results using both techniques.
