Overview: Cherry Creek State Park in Colorado wanted clean, renewable power to provide AC electrical power inside the park. Northern Power Systems installed and commissioned a 22kW photovoltaic (PV) power system for Public Service Company of Colorado (PSCo) at the Cherry Creek State Park, southeast of Denver, Colorado in June 1996. At present, this system is the largest photovoltaic facility in Colorado. The solar system provides AC electrical power to the PSCo utility grid at the park site, providing voltage support to a long feeder line into the park. This system uses Northern's PolarTracker, which provides enhanced energy output.
