Overview: Samsung retained the services of American Institutes for Research (AIR) in the development of an interaction identity for their line of home networked appliances, which included digital audio equipment, cell phones, PDAs, computers, home security systems, televisions, and refrigerators. To document the interaction identity, AIR produced a set of design guidelines that were easy for Samsung's developers to interpret when designing the various products in the line. The guidelines outlined a straightforward, artful presentation atop a simple navigation structure that would enable non-technical users to perform complex tasks with efficiency and satisfaction.
