Overview: In this article Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc and the Brigham and Women's Hospital presented results from seven studies in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) that could pave the way for the development of more effective, less toxic therapies that are custom-designed for each patient based on his or her genetic make-up. The research, which was shared during the American College of Rheumatology meeting in San Antonio, Texas, offers new insight into genetic clues to better understand RA risk, underlying disease mechanisms, and response to treatment.
