Variable-Speed Drives
FREE Registration is required
Overview: This paper articulates and gives information about variable-speed drives which vary the frequency of AC electricity in response to an electrical signal. When coupled to a fan or pump motor, the change in frequency will result in a corresponding change in motor speed. Since the power required to drive centrifugal fans or pumps is proportional to the cube of the fan or pump speed, large reductions in electricity are achieved when fans or pumps operate at reduced speeds.
