Overview: This paper focused on engineered wood products which are made from strands of wood stripped from low-grade trees such as poplar and aspen (trees grown in 25-year rotations in plantations). The wood strips are bound together with urea formaldehyde-free MDI, and then pressed together to form billets of the desired dimensions. The billets are prepared for market after milling and sanding. Manufacturing building components in this way means that much more forest resource is converted into product, and that there is much less waste.
