Overview: The headquarters building for the Pennsylvania Game Commission brings the outdoors inside via an innovative geothermal heating and cooling system for space conditioning. Geothermal heat pump systems are the most energy-efficient heating and cooling systems-two to three times more efficient than alternatives. Rather than use outside air as the source and sink for heat, the geothermal system for the Game Commission building uses naturally occurring underground water that stays at a relatively constant temperature of 55°F.
