Overview: This paper studies the trends of convergence between gas and electricity industries all over the world. The study particularly concentrated on the implications of convergence trends on the M&A activities in the gas and electricity industries as one of the major impacts that lend itself to a numerical and objective analysis. Following the introduction of gas and electricity sector reform the number of cross sectoral M&A between the gas and the electricity sectors rose substantially in the second half of the nineties.
